CONSCIOUSNESS CREATES SPACE/TIME.
It is estimated that Neanderthal DNA survived in up to 20% of today’s European humans.
Evolution is not a random process. The genetic variation on which natural selection acts may occur randomly, but natural selection is not unexpected. An individual’s survival and reproductive success are directly related to how their inherited traits function in their local environment.
Adaptations are the result of Evolution. Adaptations usually occur because a gene mutates or changes by accident.
The process of genetic modification is highly complex. Random mutation does not occur in a mathematically random pattern. Most spontaneous mutations occur as errors.
Walking upright on the ground, controlling fire, making tools, etc., came with Homo Erectus (allegedly).
WHEN DID CONSCIOUSNESS SHOW UP?
Darwin found no common ancestor fossil records that linked primates to humans. Science is still looking for those links. Science still can’t draw a straight line to an ancestor that humans and primates share. Finding where that separation point occurred, on the tree of life, (between primates and humans) hasn’t yet happened.
Convergent Evolution is another property of Evolution: natural selection varies by location and need. Similar outcomes happen from different directions.
Darwin suggested a tree of life with branches would provide the needed answers. Science now views it as a tangled web of life, not as a tree of life.
Around 70,000 BC, a supervolcano called Toba, on Sumatra, in Indonesia blew up. It blew 650 miles of vaporized rock into the atmosphere. It plunged Earth into an ice age. It killed off all but 10,000 to 30,000 of the Homo Sapiens living at that time (WHO DID THE COUNTING?)

We were genetically bottlenecked. Most, but not all, of our closest relatives also went extinct at that time. Our herd was thinned out. It was one of those only strong survive times.
30,000 years ago:
1. There were modern humans.
2. Some Nethanderals in Europe and western Asia.
3. Denisovans in Asia. (this species was not discovered until 2008 AD).
4. The “hobbits” (3′ 6″ tall) from the Indonesian island of Flores. (They went extinct 18,000 years ago.)
At least five primary ice ages have occurred on Earth. The earliest one was over 2 billion years ago. That one met at the equator. The Earth was a snowball for a while.
