• Rules aren’t themselves material. So how do materialists explain the laws of physics? Why does matter behave according to these non-materialist rules? Why do the laws of physics obey astonishingly beautiful and intricate mathematical systems? Why is nature so elegantly mathematical? Materialism has nothing to say about that. The answer is this: mathematics is not a material thing. Arguments that modern physics manifests causal closure are complete nonsense. The Big Bang violates causal closure, singularities, and black holes violate causal closure, general relativity violates causal closure, and quantum entanglement violates causal closure, so the materialists have nothing to say to science.
  • Scientistic materialism is a theory that physical matter is the only fundamental reality and that all physical and mental processes are explained as manifestations of matter. George Sanatana, a philosopher, popularized scientific materialism in the 1800s. During the 19th century, these assumptions hardened turned into dogmas and merged into a belief system that came to be known as scientific materialism.
  •   Materialists can’t tell you anything meaningful about physics or science.
  • Materialism is a worthless metaphysical framework in which to do science; Materialism is a failed ideology.

  •  In his evil demon argument, Descartes proposes an entity that can deceive us to such a degree that we have reason to doubt the totality of what our senses tell us.
  • Laplace’s demon is a hypothetical all-knowing being who knows the precise location and momentum of every atom in the universe and could use Newton’s laws to reveal the entire course of cosmic events, past, and future—based.
  • Maxwell’s demon can distinguish between fast and slow-moving molecules. If this demon only let fast-moving molecules through a trapdoor to a container, the temperature inside the container would increase with no work being applied. Such a scenario violates the second law of thermodynamics.
  • Three Big Difficulties For Philosophical Determinism – Bishop's Encyclopedia of Religion, Society and Philosophy
  • Causal determinism, which in physics is known as cause-and-effect. Determinism is the philosophical view that previously existing causes entirely determine all events. It is the concept that causality binds events within a paradigm so that prior states ultimately choose any form (of an object or event).
  • Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism - YouTube
  • Compatibilism believes that free will and determinism are mutually compatible and that it is possible to believe in both without being logically inconsistent.
  • That quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as entanglement and superposition, may play an essential part in the brain’s function and explain consciousness.
  • BBC - Earth - The strange link between the human mind and quantum physics
  • Consciousness is in an entangled state with the physical universe, so much so that it can explain neither without the other. This relationship gives meaning to any other phenomenon–the entangled relationship between a subjective experience (i.e., consciousness) and the physical universe is life.
