Simple and complex, tying it all together. The coherence of increasing complexity. Complex things have diverse components that are bound together in larger structures in a very precise patterned way.
Firstly, components are put into a structure that will display distinctive emergent properties. These components require assembly in specific ways, for emergence to happen. In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own, properties or behaviors which emerge only when the parts interact in a wider whole. Emergence plays a central role in theories of integrative levels and of complex systems. For instance, the phenomenon of life as studied in biology is an emergent property of chemistry, and psychological phenomena emerge from the neurobiological phenomena of living things.
Emergent behavior are everywhere around us, from birds flocking, fireflies synchronizing, ants colonizing, fish schooling, individuals self-organizing into neighborhoods in cities – all with no leaders or central control – to the Big Bang, the formation of galaxies and stars and planets.
A complex system is a system composed of many components that may interact with each other. Examples of complex systems are Earth’s global climate, organisms, the human brain, infrastructure such as power grid, transportation or communication systems, social and economic organizations (like cities), an ecosystem, a living cell, and ultimately the entire universe. Complex systems are systems whose behavior is intrinsically difficult to model due to the dependencies, competitions, relationships, or other types of interactions between their parts or between a given system and its environment.

Complex entities have a certain stability. Emergence lasts until it does not. Energy flows are needed to bind simple components into more complex structures. Without the energy flows, the entity breaks down. (try not eating). We need to be good at detecting complexity. (seeing the tiger). Over time, complexity increases. The universe started out with only hydrogen, helium, and energy. That grew into what we have now. It takes much energy to maintain complex things. The more complexity, the higher the energy needs. Attempts have been made to measure the energy requirements needed for various complex entities. An energy density index for stars (2 units), plants (75 units), animals (20,000).
Most of the universe that we can see has remained relatively simple. Most of the universe is the vacuum of space. Most things in space (as we know it) has remained relatively simple. Humans take up little space but are highly complex. They require high amounts of energy. (food). Complex entities are rare and fragile. Stars are simple and more common than fragile butterflies and stars live much longer.
The 1st law of thermodynamics states: that in any closed system (the universe is one), its energy level is fixed. (However, at any point in time, the amount of energy can vary). Work can only be done where energy is distributed unevenly. Energy, however, can flow from one place to another. When work depletes the energy imbalance in an area, work runs out. (think of a flashlight battery). A charged battery has an imbalance of electrons. Work discharges the electrons until it don’t work no more. Entropy has increased.
The 2nd law of thermodynamics: Differences in energy levels tend to diminish as work is done so that entropy increases. It would seem that energy flows are decreasing as work is done, however; work is local and energy flows can move around. The rare highly complex entities suck up a lot of per-capita energy. However, the billions of stars are converting mass into energy, 24/7. (It’s canned heat leftover from the big bang).
Also, TBD, the matter may contain a spontaneous self-organizing capability. The simple answer is that there are energy differentials across the universe. Energy is used up locally, but energy is universal, and it moves into hot spots that can use it. Planets spring up (because of gravity) in orbits around stars. The force of gravity packs energy in smaller spaces. Gravity attracts both matter and energy, local flows of energy result. Stars pump energy into empty space.
Complexity has its own geography. This creates the conditions for more complex things. Planets hang around stars, creating hot spots for growing complex things. These energy zones beget complex things. The expanding universe creates energy imbalances thereby ensuring that more work can be done. The 2nd law applies universally, not locally.
Every symmetry physics law leads to a conservation law, and every conservation law arises from a symmetry in the laws of physics.

DNA is a codebook that issues instructions. DNA is the governing force that issues instructions to specificproteins at specific times, in specific amounts.
The gene blueprint regulates gene activity. DNA issues instruction three at a time. DNA is an information structure. It maintains gene production and regulation to deliver the correct gene functions. Genes are networked in a complex sequenced network. The gene network self schedules and delivers the required results.
Information is physical and it represents the ultimate nature of reality. These surprisingly simple assertions have many deep consequences. Information theory is the wellspring of our contemporary digital world. The universe is an information network. Life is an informational structure. Quantum gravity interacts with the universe’s knowledge base. This knowledge base stores the human consciousness bits. Growing and storing the knowledge bytes from the known thought reposer’s production is the reason that this current universe exists. The universe’s information structure built the universe. The information structure then operates this universe. When the universe matures, the consciousness bytes that had been generated by the known thought reposers are saved. They will be used again, in the next universe.
