A believer can lie to the Holy Spirit. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” (Isaiah 29:13, NLT).
The major issue addressed in this verse is the acts that God’s followers commit in His name to self-deceive themselves into thinking that they have been committed to His will. In truth, they are not doing this.
Related Bible passages to the Holy Spirit include pretending to be a Christian while not believing it or deceiving God about who you are. The Bible’s story of Ananias and Sapphira is an example of lying to the Holy Spirit.
In John 6:28–29, Jesus defines the kingdom of Heaven as beginning with true belief.Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith, it’s impossible to please God.

Colossians 1:13 says that when people receive forgiveness of sin and God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus, they are transferred to His kingdom.
In the Bible, those who do not know Christ are called “workers of lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23). Unbelievers are marked by lawlessness (Matthew 23:28) and will increase lawlessness in the end times (Matthew 24:12). Lawlessness was associated with those who rejected the Law of Moses (the Torah) and were therefore sinners.
In Matthew 7.21, Jesus Christ says that not all Christians will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the ‘will of the Father,’ who is in Heaven. What is the will of the Father for us as Christians?
“Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter Heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father, for many shall say to me, Lord, Lord! Did we not do many wonderful things in your name? And I shall tell them, Depart from me, you who work lawlessness. I never knew you.”
So what is the lawlessness of the father? John 6:40 “And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have everlasting life, and I will raise him at the last day.”
Believe in Christ. Trust in him. That is the Father’s will. If Jesus asks, “Why should I let you into heaven?” And you respond, “Because I cast out demons. I spoke in tongues. I tithed. I prayed. I asked for forgiveness. I stopped sinning. I went to church. I was a part of the correct church or denomination.” “Go away from me, you who practice lawlessness,” Jesus will say. I never knew you.”
If you were Lawlessness, it was only because you took my punishment for me, Lord.” Then, will Jesus say, “Welcome, my good and faithful servant?”

The Lord Jesus said, “Not everyone that says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but he that does the will of My Father, which is in Heaven. Many will say to Me that day, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? and in Your name have cast out devils? And in your name, have you done many wonderful works? And then I will profess to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you that work iniquity” (Mat 7:21–23). Those who say “Lord, Lord” believe in and serve the Lord. They have always made sacrifices, expended themselves, and worked hard for the Lord, and they have spread the gospel and built churches. Have they not followed the Lord’s will by doing all this? When the Lord Jesus returns, why will they not be commended by the Lord and instead be condemned by Him as evildoers?
