The order and patterns present in the universe are evidence of God’s existence. Intelligent design (ID) and evolution are two theories that differ in their explanations for the complexity of life on Earth.

Intelligent design (ID) proponents believe that a supernatural designer best explains certain features of the universe and living things. They accept that evolution has occurred but argue that a designer is responsible for the origin of complex characteristics. ID proponents point to the eye as an example of a structure that could not have evolved; instead, it was.
