ENERGY ONLY CHANGES FORMS; IT IS NEVER CREATED OR DESTROYED.

  • Maxwell’s Demon is an MMaxwell’s Demon created by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell in 1867, in which he suggested how the second law of thermodynamics might hypothetically be violated. [1]In the thought experiment, a demon controls a small door between two gas compartments. As individual gas molecules approach the door, the Demonon quickly opens the door so that only fast molecules can pass into one of the chambers. In contrast, slow molecules are passed into the other. Bfast moleculesculeses are the Demon’s behavior. Dis is when the Demon’smon appears up and the other cools down, decreasing entropy and violating the second law of thermodynamics. This thought experiment has provoked debate and theoretical work on the relationship between thermodynamics and information theory extending to the present day. Several scientists argue that theoretical considerations rule out any practical device violating the second law in this way.
  • The First Law of Thermodynamics (Conservation) states that energy is always conserved; it cannot be created or destroyed. In essence, energy can be converted from one form into another. ENERGY ONLY CHANGES ORMS; IT IS NEVER CREATED OR DETROYED.
