Dark Matter is why rotating galaxies do not fly apart from rotational forces. They don’t have enough regular mass to hold the galaxy together. Rotating galaxies come in a wide range of sizes, densities, and rotation speeds. They don’t expand from rotation nor contract from gravity; they turn like a wheel. The morphological integrity of rotating galaxies and gravity itself keep the galaxy shaped. (the curvature in spacetime).
It is mass that only responds to gravity (on large scales). Because gravity attracts, the dark Matter collects into larger and denser structures as time evolves. Dark Matter is concentrated in halos, slightly-flattened spheres about the same size as galaxies. These halos are thicker toward the center. This filaments, sheets, and nodes pattern is the Cosmic Web.

At least one new elementary particle has yet to be discovered.
This new particle will have suppressed interactions with electromagnetism.
It should be a cold, non-relativistic massive particle.
Also, the dark matter particle can’t self-interact too strongly.
There are three ways to identify the dark matter particle:
1. A high-energy collider experiment is needed for a dark energy particle to show up. (Direct dark matter production at colliders).
2. Direct dark matter detection in underground laboratories.
3. Indirect dark matter detection at gamma-ray observatories.
Dark Matter is beyond the standard model of particle physics. A model beyond the standard model is needed.
The old paradigm — based solely on reductionism and practical field theory — may be a start. When you go to the Planck scale, you lose reductionism, and gravity is anti-reductionist. Gravity is produced by the way mass interacts with spacetime. The only way to produce anti-gravity would be to create negative mass, and there’s no such thing. Dark energy permeates all space and causes the universe to expand by exerting a gravitational repulsion, countering ordinary gravitational attraction. Negative pressure is not repulsive gravity. Gravity is what produces pressure. Gravity can generate an isovolumic redistribution of particles without performing work on the system.
If a planet has a strong gravitational pull, it’ll be able to hold on to its atmosphere better. If a planet is exposed to the solar wind, the atmosphere can be stripped away over time if it lacks a magnetic field to deflect charged particle streams. Gravity causes pressure to increase with depth in the ocean and the atmosphere.
