  • WE DON’T KNOW:
  • HOW GRAVITY FITS IN WITH THE OTHER THREE FORCES.
  • THE GEOMETRY OF SPACETIME.
  • THAT THE SPOOKY TRANSMISSION FIELD OF QUANTUM MECHANICS IS ATTACHED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE SPACETIME FABRIC.
  • HOW TO RECONCILE ELECTROMAGNETIC WEAK FORCE WITH THE STRONG FORCE.
  •  WHAT, IF ANYTHING WAS BEFORE THE BIG BANG?
  • BEFORE A THEORY OF EVERYTHING IS PUT IN PLACE, WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND DARK MATTER AND DARK ENERGY, AND INTEGRATE THE THEORY OF GENERAL RELATIVITY WITH QUANTUM MECHANICS.
  • GRAVITY ALSO NEEDS TO BE WOVEN INTO THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING.
  • WHAT DOES LIE BEYOND THE STANDARD MODEL?
  • UNDERSTANDING CONSCIOUSNESS IS A BRIDGE TOO FAR.
  • THE  WHAT WE DON’T KNOW LIST GOES ON.
  • String theory may have some answers, but don’t hold your breath.
  • It says:
  • The fundamental entities of the universe are one dimensional “strings.”
  • The vibrating mode of the strings are the particles of the universe.
  • We live in a ten or eleven dimension world.
  • These extra dimensions are wrapped up in little loops.
  • The math works, but the reality of what is, does not work.
  • Testing the string theory by experiment &/or observation is out of the question.
  • So, string theory is fun math, and a great academic exercise, but little else.
  • DARK MATTER & DARK ENERGY:
  • It doesn’t interact electromagnetically.  There are no electromagnetic wave emissions.
  • It is non-luminous and transparent.  It is not a part of the universe’s visible stuff.
  • It doesn’t interact with the strong force.  It has limited interactions with the atomic nucleus.
  • It does not interact with gravity, because it is matter that has no mass.
  • It may interact with the weak force, thereby providing an indirect means of detection.
  • WIMPS are the prime candidate for  dark matter weightless particles.
  • There are no confirmed detections.
  • Gravity shows that mass is missing, hence the need for dark matter.
  • Critical density wasn’t achieved, hence the need for dark energy.
  • The spaces between galaxies are basically vacuums.
  • If you have low density and weak gravity, kinetic energy dominates.  The universe expands forever.
  • If you have high density and strong gravity, potential energy dominates, and expansion halts.
  • Dark matter and visible matter can’t explain cosmic acceleration.
  • The 5% visible stuff provides only 5% of the critical density needed to hold the universe together.
  • The remaining 95% that is needed to establish critical density remains unknown.  It requires repulsive gravity, i. e., anti-gravity.
  • Dark energy dominates in the universe. The repulsive dark energy causes the universe’s expansion acceleration.
  • There has to be dark energy in the vacuum of space to aid in the expansion.
  • Mass AND energy includes pressure.  You need random pressure fluctuations to make things work.
  •  When the internal energy of dark energy achieves a negative pressure, gravity goes repulsive.  Acceleration of the universe’s expansion is then achieved.
  • This needs to be accounted for in the standard model.  There might be additional dark particles to be factored into the standard model.
  • Large structure formation needs more defining.
