Space within an atom is really a beehive of activity. In reality, atoms do not contain any space. Rather, they are filled completely with spread-out electrons, making the shrinking of atoms impossible. Every it make human on planet Earth up of millions and millions of atoms which all are 99% empty space. If you were to remove all the empty space in every atom in every person on planet earth and compress us all together, then the overall volume of our particles would be smaller than a sugar cube.
It makes the nucleus of an atom up of protons and neutrons. Atoms comprise three basic particles: protons, electrons, and neutrons.
