We went through 12 grades of school together. At Redeemer Luthern School, we sometimes rode to school on his Cushman motor scooter. At Saginaw High, we sometimes took his 1946 Ford convertible. We hoed a lot of navy beans, back in the day. Frieda, our Mother was a 4H leader. We spent every Fall exhibiting crafts and produce at the Saginaw County Fairgrounds. Babysitters were unheard of, and Larry and I attended a lot of in-home Farm Bureau meetings. We also went along with our parents to the Parkland Lanes Bowling alleys. It was a Farm Bureau bowling league. The building is still standing, right up against the Saginaw RiverGenessee bridge. Our parents were both very active in local and State Farm Bureau activities. Larry was a special brother. Toby Bender Vern Bender Nov 27, 2023 My heart goes out to Dawn, Mike and David my Eastport family at this very sad time. I love you all, so many years of memories. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Jill Sizick Nov 26, 2023 We lived across the road on Eastport from Larry and his family, Larry was a real cool guy, good sense of humer and easy to talk with, he had some sweet cars. Rest in peace Larry Jim Brady Jim Brady Nov 22, 2023 I am sorry that I couldn’t travel to be there for today. Yesterday, when I was ready to leave, I checked the Michigan weather. I75 had been shut down due to an SUV wreck on ice that took out 3 other cars and killed 1. (later, I found it had been 1 day prior). The Detroit airport had 2 inches of snow and ice, yesterday morning. The prudent thing to do was to cancel. I’m too old to deal with bad travel weather. My thoughts and prayers to Larry, and all. Love to all. Lavern Toby Bender.
